During 2022 Edge members had the opportunity to take part in two online workshops as well as two in-person workshops.

Online workshops

We had artist Eleanor White of Bridgehouse Art in Ullapool for the online classes held during the first half of the year.

It was lovely to work with Eleanor once again with her first class, “Abstract Form – text & tone” where she had us working with text and our own handwriting in black and white design work exercises. We were encouraged to make small designs from our work which proved to be incredibly addictive and productive.

In the second class, “Abstraction into personal motif” she had us working in colour through some more exercises, towards a piece of work that used what we had learned together with our own images and inspiration.

In-person workshops

Later in 2022 we were delighted to be able to meet and work together once more, this time at Off the Rails Arthouse in Ladybank with Fife-based artist Dominique Cameron.

Both Dominique’s classes were about “Making a Map”; remembering and documenting a favourite walk. Dominique gave us lots of ideas including referencing poems to other artists’ work as well as helping us to interpret our memories in a pictorial or abstract way.

The images are a mixture from all four workshops.
