Jean Mellin

Artist Statement

I am inspired by both riotous mixes of colour, textures and architectural shapes. Using these as a starting point I create bespoke art bags/accessories. Further embellishment with beads, sequins and the odd tassel, bauble and feather or two also normally happens!

Specialising in free motion machine embroidery I regularly teach classes for beginners to the more experienced stitchers.

I also create abstract pieces using painted, printed and dyed fabrics. These pieces are then embellished with both hand and free motion embroidery.
