Artist Statement

Originally a physiotherapist, I completed felting and embroidery courses, and now work mainly with dyed merino wool carded with additional fibres and threads. The tactile manipulation of the felting process always proves satisfying, with the sense of anticipation when using an innovative technique adding a new dimension, and sometimes an element of surprise when it produces an unexpected result.

Recent work includes 3D pieces and nuno silk jackets. Travel and geometric shape continue to inspire and influence me, notably the vibrant colours and vistas of Africa – not least the soaring dunes and breathtaking panoramas of Namibia.

I exhibit widely, teach short courses and lead Edinburgh Young Embroiderers.
