Artist Statement

My love of textile art started with City and Guilds courses forty years ago. The key influence on my work has always been Rose Campbell; while among many others whose help has been invaluable are Sarah Burgess, Alison King and Jean Draper.

I like to create wall-hung pieces using a variety of media including painted fabric and paper, plaster, and hand-made felt. I particularly enjoy hand-stitching while some work features machine embroidery. Colour and composition are essential features as I develop new work, and they feed into my aim to create a “spirit of place” often in a setting of landscape or architecture.
