Artist Statement

I am a mixed-media textile artist working with stitch, paint, paper, and cloth. My practice is driven by a love of materials and process, combining traditional textile techniques with experimental approaches. I draw inspiration from travel, landscape, and figurative imagery, using texture, mark-making, and layered surfaces to translate experience and place.

I have been an exhibiting member of EDGE since its inception in 2000, contributing to and engaging with professional contemporary textile practice.

I trained in Embroidered and Woven Textiles at Glasgow School of Art and completed an MA in Embroidery at the Royal College of Art between 1988 and 1994. Alongside my studio practice, I have an extensive career in arts education. I am currently a full-time Curriculum Team Manager in Art & Design at Edinburgh College and have worked as a specialist lecturer in Textiles since 1994. Teaching and leadership continue to inform and enrich my creative practice.
