Artist Statement
I’m a textile artist based in East Lothian. Through layered cloth and stitch, I capture the textures, colours and patterns of nature, creating tactile pieces evoking personal connections to place and memory. I also create narrative pieces exploring themes of identity, memory, and transformation.
The rich and varied landscapes of rural Scotland inspire my work. My practice is rooted in a deep appreciation for nature and its impact on well-being – the slow, meditative process of hand stitching allows me to reflect on the intersection of humanity and the environment.
Using textiles and stitching to emphasise details, raise surfaces and create depth, I aim to draw attention to the beauty and fragility of the natural world, encouraging a sense of connection and responsibility towards its preservation.
I’ve exhibited my work nationally and internationally – by sharing my work I’m able to contribute to the evolving conversation surrounding contemporary textile art.
