Artist Statement

I have worked in textiles for much of my life. I have been focussed for some time on textile mixed media and taking a materials-led approach. More recently I have been developing work along particular themes.

My work is often concerned with what is hidden and lies below the surface and what is secret. This has led me to explore land marks and what shapes the land. I have also been developing work which examines culture and what aspects of culture we take or leave behind when communities have to leave their homes and countries and travel across geographical boundaries.

I am interested in surface design, layered textiles and printing. I particularly love sketchbook and development work and printmaking on paper as well as textiles.
