Artist Statement

I enjoy working with fabric and stitch, mainly layering different types of fabrics together using both hand and free machine embroidery. I also like mixed media and the idea of combining different and unusual materials together, fabric, paper, wire, paint, found objects to name a few.

Sketchbooks are important to my practice as they offer a place to try out techniques and experiment with drawing, painting, and printing as well as a place to gather research and ideas. This has increased my interest in bookmaking and using text within textile pieces.

My main interest at the moment is with plants and nature from the smallest detail to the larger open landscape. I have discovered that the journey to the end result is every bit as important to me as the finished piece of work.
