Nessie

From Quines by Gerda Stevenson

Artist’s statement

I was attracted to Gerda’s poem because of a family connection to the legend of the Loch Ness Monster. In 1937 my grandparents, whilst staying at the family croft, sighted Nessie and her young swimming down the Loch. This was not the first sighting and my great-grandmother referred to Nessie as the Waterhorse. I liked Gerda’s description of Nessie and created my response as garments for the goddess Nessie and her children.
