Wilderness

There is always something of interest to be found in places where nature has been allowed to do what it wants, whether in lush, green woodlands in this country or in desert areas abroad. Patterns are made by grasses bending into each other, noticeable in Autumn or with frosts in Winter. Strong lighting effects are created by sunsets, impending storms or Winter sunshine changing the colours of the grasses.

I choose to exaggerate this. The Silk Panel has silk dyes over the Grasses design, drawn in gutta then hand-stitched. The Fabric Sample is free machine embroidery on silk, taking the grass theme a stage further, making a length of fabric.
