Post to Post
Anita creates abstract stitched and printed constructed textiles, based on her memories and experiences walking the footpaths of Scotland.
Her experiences are recorded in a diary and in photographs. The diary entries prompt her memory and spark off ideas for the textiles. The textiles themselves act as aide memoirs to the day walking.
‘Post to Post’ represents the little gardens growing on top of fence posts that were found on a series of walks during 2010 in Scotland. Walks have included The Ptarmigan ridge in Perthshire and The Lomonds in Fife. The lichen and moss that make up these gardens is only found in areas with clean air and can take hundreds of years to grow.
The structures include painted and textured fabrics, constructed with stitch and rag-rug techniques.
