Artist Statement

Having completed City and Guilds in Edinburgh many years ago I have continued to work with people whom I met then.

As a member of the Edinburgh Embroiderers Guild I have exhibited with them and also with Edge.

I find inspiration in many things from travel photos to antiques and enjoy colour whether strong or muted.

I love trying to imply an image rather than being too precise and incorporating humour into my work.

My piece for Stitch and Rhyme was inspired by the song ‘Caller Herrin’ about the fears and difficulties of fishing from Newhaven but black and white work needed a splash of colour and I used red so the piece became ‘red herring’.

I am currently working on a landscape of Morocco.
