Liza Green, 'Still Centre'

Artist Statement

A wide range of interests informs my work: geographical, political, and social landscapes, the influence of human activity on the environment; a love of journeys, travel, and the written word. Walking is an important part of my thought process and I draw inspiration from the nearby hills, beaches and the city of Edinburgh.

Drawing, mark making, collage and photography are central to my practice, I keep several messy sketchbooks on the go. Exploration of detail and simplification of line are important elements in my work and I enjoy the process of experimenting with different techniques. Recycled found objects often find their way into a project, which could be anything from a sculptural abstract form, painterly textile panel, or artist books. I exhibit widely with EDGE, Visual Arts Scotland and bound : unbound.
