Artist Statement

I graduated in Printed Textiles from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and then went on to complete a Post-Graduate Year during which I developed my interest in stitched textiles and mixed media.

Inspiration for my current work comes from a response to landscape and, in particular, to my immediate environment of North East Fife and the River Tay.

My aim is to interpret not only the surfaces and textures of land and water, but also the part played by seasonal and climatic changes.

I strive to convey the essence of the environment I observe and my process involves the distillation of images until I feel satisfied with the result. Further exploration of the Tay is the source for a series of new work.
