I continue to be inspired by the everyday – everyday people and everyday things. I am fascinated by people’s stories.
I use collage techniques where I layer, patch and piece different materials together with hand stitch. This is the most important part for me – there is something very personal about adding your mark with needle and thread. It is a slow, thoughtful process.
I use materials with a bit of history – old textiles, washed and worn garments, old magazine papers. I wonder about the “lives” these things led before coming into my hands and feel that I am merging their stories with my own.
