FEEDBACK FRIDAY: This Week in Natural Dye Questions (Red Edition)
Fibre Arts TAKE TWO – bit late for this talk, but you might find it on YouTube.
This week we invite into the studio, Kelcie Bryant-Duguid. A multi-disciplinary artist with her primary focus lying in the territories of encaustic mixed media and textiles.
Kelcie’s work is a response to the environment, events and issues that resonate with her; with the themes of memory, family, relationships, place and belonging being constantly revisited in her work. Join us on the Fibre Arts Take Two Facebook page or our YouTube channel as we explore wearable art with Kelcie Bryant-Duguid. |
New Fruitmarket, Edinburgh Exhibition.
Join us for the Exhibition Preview of Daniel Silver Looking
10.06.22. 6–8pm. Free. Book via Eventbrite
The first exhibition in Scotland by London based artist Daniel Silver spans the Fruitmarket’s Exhibition Galleries and Warehouse and is a celebration of Silver’s recent shift to working with clay. Painted ceramic busts, figures, and abstracted totems/vessels ranging in scale from table top to over life sized are exhibited alongside new works on paper – large heads and smaller drawings that express the figure in movement.
Whilst I was in London last week I went to the Welcome Institute (one of my favourite places near Kings Cross (apart from the Gagosian in Britannia Street) )to see an exhibition called Rooted Beings – if you want to see giant textile seaweed, beautiful drawings by Josseca and embroidered textiles by Godze Ilkin . Rooted Beings’ invites you to embark on a meditative reflection on the world of plants and fungi. The exhibition considers what we might learn from plant behaviour, and the impacts of colonial expeditions on the exploitation of natural resources and indigenous knowledges
Thanks Maggie. Some really interesting events and talks. Looking forward to indulging in some creative input. Shanx
