Exhibition Rhythm Transmission
Kirsty McKeown and The Arbroath Correspondence School 5 – 7 November 2021 10.00am – 4.00pm |
You are invited to join us this November for an exhibition that celebrates and charts Dundee based artist Kirsty McKeown’s Free Drawing School residency entirely undertaken during a global pandemic.
Kirsty McKeown’s work includes a series a photograms that capture the ebb and flow of the tides in Arbroath and Auchmithie, drawing parallels with the strange lockdown phenomenon of time seemingly contracting and expanding. Printmaking plates strapped to the bottom of boots; gouging a record of travels, transit, drawings and video.
The Arbroath Correspondence School Archive will also be on display. Founded by McKeown during her year as Hospitalfield’s Free Drawing School artist-in-residence, the archive features almost 100 pieces of mail art including two collaborative works created with The Correspondence Collective.
Programme Friday 5 November 5.00pm – 7.00pm: Opening Celebration, please join us for the opening and celebratory drinks for this exhibition. Everyone welcome and an opportunity for anyone who contributed to the Correspondence School to meet in person.
