With a hands-on, informal approach, Sammy Bishop of Paraffle Embroidery will show you all you need to know to make a beautiful piece of embroidery to hang in your own home. You will use a Paraffle design, created especially for this workshop as a template.

Coinsiding with Kurt Jackson: Mermaids’ Tear Exhibition in our Viewing Balcony this workshop will lead your through themes and techniques commonly associated with Kurt Jackson style.
Aimed at those who have a basic knowledge of tapestry weaving and want to explore different design approaches, this workshop is a rare opportunity to delve into the world of Kurt Jackson and create your own small tapestry inspired by his work. Experimenting with a range of techniques, you will receive expert tuition from professional weaver Fiona Hutchison, and at the end of the day you are invited to sit back and admire your tapestry with a glass of fizz.

This autumn Dovecot presents the work of internationally acclaimed Japanese textile designer Sudō Reiko with an innovative new exhibition featuring five large-scale installations combining NUNO textiles and art projections by leading technological designers Rhizomatiks from Tokyo.
The exhibition reveals how Sudō Reiko’s work pushes the boundaries of textile production. Sudō has been Design Director of leading textile design firm Nuno for over 30 years. She is renowned for championing new methods of sustainable manufacturing with manufacturers from across Japan as well as working with unconventional materials and engineering techniques.
